2015 - Present
I have been in Scouting for over 15 Years, Starting at 2nd Chesham Scout Group as Beaver scout leader and acting ADC Beavers for Chiltern North District. I took a sabbatical in 2009 to concentrate on my family. However I missed Scouting and after a while i contacted Bucks Scouts seeking a new challenge here in Aylesbury. I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to Join 1st Berryfield Scout group in February 2014 as Beaver Scout Leader and Scouting Lead. The group has gone from strength to strength and in 2015 I was very pleased to be asked to take on the role of Group Scout Leader.
My fundamental role is to oversee the running of the Scout group. I work closely with the executive team, Section leaders and parents to provide a progressive and exciting program for our young people. We have come a very long way in a couple of years and are excited to see how he beavers and cub sections have grown we currently have over 50 young people. This April sees the beginning of our new Berryfield Bears Scout Troop, these are very exciting times.
2015 - Present
I have been the Chair Person for 1st Berryfield Scouts for over a year now and have enjoyed every second! It has been a challenging journey but a very satisfying one, being able to see how much the children get out of all the meetings and activities that the scout leaders organise. There is a great sense of pride in what the children achieve, with the support from the work and effort that the scout leaders and executive members have put in behind the scenes.
My son, Archie, started in the Beavers Section almost 2 years ago and has loved being part of the scouting community. My youngest, Ellie, is a "Beaver in Training" and you can often see her sneaking into the section meetings to join in with the older children. My husband, Chris, has help out with specific badge activities and we all enjoy being part of the scouting family.
I have been involved in the scouting family from a young age. I started out as a Brownie Pack Assistant Leader, in the old style uniforms and was in the Gnomes! I then moved to the Guides and travelled to Denmark and Italy on international camps with other Guides and Scouts from all over the world. I then moved onto Ranger Guides and completed my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh. I then worked with some of the other older Guides and Scouts in our local Scottish glen area to develop our own Venture Scout Unit that met weekly to work on outdoor pursuits and activities.
I hope that bringing some of my personal interests and hobbies, such as orienteering, baking, outdoor pursuits, pets, running, to 1st Berryfield Scouts will help the young people in working towards their badges.
1st Berryfield Scout Group is a motivated and fun Scout Group to be part of and a fantastic example of what good team work, communication, commitment and enthusiasm can bring for our children and the Scouting family.
