Like many other leaders here at 1st Berryfield I have been involved in scouting for many years. Over the past thirteen I have held many posts with both cubs and explore scouts, in Oxfordshire Basingstoke and the west midlands. I have grown up children with special needs, I therefore have a wealth of experience, both as a parent and as a leader. The cub scout leaders and I aim to ensure the children have a wealth of opportunities to develop as young people and offer encouragement to complete their cub badges and awards finalising in them achieving their Chief scout Silver award the highest award for cub scouts. The children have the opportunity. to transfer directly to our Berryfield Bears Scout Troop
I have been an active member of 1st Berryfield Scouts since February 2014 when my wife joined the scout Group. Until then I had had no scouting experience at all. The past two years has seen me develop and gain experience with in the group. I have been a section assistant and worked between both the beavers and cub sections, working quietly in the background doing whatever has been required of me. I have discovered that as a leader you are quartermaster, fundraiser and treasure all in one. I have now gained the confidence to step up to the mark and look forward to assisting Suzzie in the cub section as an assistant cub leader. We look forward to assisting the cubs to gain the confidence to challenge themselves over the coming years .
I like most adults in scouting became involved with scouting through my son Kuba. I enjoyed assisting at beaver meetings and found myself assisting in setting up for camps and joining in many of the outdoor activities at beavers. It seemed therefore a natural progression to go from being a parent helper to now being a section assistant. Both Kuba and I have moved up to Cubs and I'm excited at the prospect of all the fun and hard work to come. I know my youngest Oleck is really looking forward to being a Beaver scout from September. So looks like I am now hooked for Years!
